About the Artist
I'm just your average, mildly odd, 40-something artsy mom who really loves trees. Life began in the beautiful open (although often frigid) air of central Minnesota, took a 6 year detour in the US Navy, and eventually brought me to my current home in South Lousiana, where I've been for the past 20 years. After losing my home in hurricane Katrina, I began picking up bits and pieces of rusty and waterlogged treasures and assembling them into little works of art. Looking back, I'm certain it was a sort of post-traumatic response to all of the chaos and destruction...if I could make something beautiful out of something broken, it was a way to move forward, to heal, to create hope.
I'm also a mom to two amazing boys, now fully grown and out adding their hearts to the world...I've replaced them with two cats, both named Rupert.
I live in a 140 year old acadian haunted house surrounded by swamp and bayou. I bought it because I thought it was charming. In reality, it's 2,000 square feet of falling apart, and 3 acres of what the hell was I thinking. But it's mine.
I appreciate your time, company, and comments...thank you for spending a few minutes visiting my shop!
